the attitude of gratitude
quick! think of one thing you’re grateful for!
are you smiling?
can you find a reason to be sad?
are you in the sweet wave of gratittude yet…? ☺
gratitude:
the expression of appreciation for what one has.
warning* tears may develop in this practice.
have you ever felt it? so incredibly grateful for your life, tears start to form? you suddenly take time to reflect on how far you’ve come, valuable relationships in your life, love you’ve received, gifts you’ve been given, awareness of the clothes on your body, shelter, and food you eat that nourishes you every single day.
the wave of gratitude. the ripples of blessings that have occurred in your life from one time to another. always there to hold you and lift you up a little higher.
gratitude is practice that allows the mind to relieve itself from suffering. it can be a subtle reminder that what you may be worrying about at the moment isn’t so bad, you will make it out of the pain you are experiencing, you will always be taken care of, and IT WILL BE OKAY. there are smaller things in life that are far more important than losing a water bottle, not being able to attend a party, or something like not having enough money to buy a 4th pair of shoes.
seriously… it’s the little things in life that make such a big impact on each of our precious, individual human lives.
here are some spaces to connect yourself to gratitude:
#1 be grateful for yourself
always remember to thank yourself for waking up, feeding yourself, nourishing yourself, & loving yourself.
#2 be grateful for those around you
always remember to thank those who came before you, the ones who made mistakes so you don’t have to, who taught you, who loved you, who helped you, who brought you up when you felt down, who connected with you, who sparked a fire in you, who made you a meal, who took care of you, who built your house, who made your clothes…
& so much more <3
#3 be grateful for the precious land beneath your feet
always remember to thank mother earth, the nature that connects you to something deeper, something bigger, the mountains and views that humble you, the flowers, trees, and birds & bees that allow you to be yourself. as perfect as you are in your own nature.
here are some easy practices to take with you:
10 minute meditation on gratitude
perfect morning or nightly routine to start or end your day with a short and quiet refection, focused on gratitude
gratitude wheel or flower of gratitude
focuses: (career, family/friends, intimate partners, health, personal growth, experiences, environment)
grab a pen & paper (feel free to use markers if you want to colorfy it!)
draw one big circle
you can either add sections in the circle or create a flower by adding pedals
in each section or pedal write what you’re grateful for, relating to each focus :-)
journal
write “today i’m grateful for…”
5 minute gratitude tea
make yourself a pot of tea
As you wait patiently for it to cool down, bring to mind the spirit of gratitude
think and ponder to yourself what you’re grateful for
once your tea cools down, sip the spirit of gratitude into your body and allow it to marinate inside of you & your mind
on-the-go shares (lunch, picnic, dinner, walking, car rides, etc)
open up the opportunity for others to share
ask others what they’re grateful for! good for inspo :) and to lift others & yourself :)
i am so grateful for YOU
